What is rakko?

rakko is a background monitoring software for Windows, designed to minimize the damage caused by ransomware.

While conventional antivirus software focuses on "detecting known threats," rakko aims to "reduce damage by focusing on the act of encryption itself."

Why do you need rakko?

Once ransomware infects a system, it encrypts important files such as photos and documents, rendering them inaccessible.

New strains of ransomware that slip past definition files emerge every day, and it is not uncommon to discover an infection only after damage has already occurred.

rakko does not aim to prevent ransomware from infiltrating your system — instead, it is designed to detect encryption activity at an early stage and prevent the damage from spreading.

How detection works

rakko places "trap files" in monitored folders.

If ransomware attempts to encrypt files and accesses a trap file, the target process is automatically terminated, preventing further damage.

Because it does not rely on signatures or definition files, it can help reduce damage even from previously unknown ransomware.

Continuous Monitoring

Monitors access to trap files placed in the target folders in the background at all times.

Anomaly Detected

An anomaly is detected when ransomware begins encrypting files.

Auto Termination

The detected process is monitored, and it is automatically terminated the moment it attempts further encryption.

Damage Minimized

After the process is stopped, the trap files are automatically restored and you are notified via a desktop notification.

Management Console

The rakko management console runs in the system tray and can be launched by clicking the tray icon.

From the console, you can check the monitoring status, last detection time, number of detections this month, and logs, as well as manage trap file locations and trusted processes.

Look for this icon in your system tray and click it to launch the console.

Status & Start

You can check the current monitoring status.

If the monitoring process has stopped, you can restart it by clicking the "Start" button in the management console.

Trap File Location Management

In addition to the default monitored locations, you can add any folder as a trap file location.

Click the "Add Folder" button to select the folder you want to monitor.

Added folders can also be removed at any time.

Trusted Process Management

Legitimate processes such as backup software or business applications may access trap files.

You can register such applications as trusted processes to exclude them from detection.

Click the "Add Process" button to select the target application.

Registered applications can also be removed at any time.

License Management

You can check the current authentication status of your license key.

When authenticated, only the last 4 digits of the license key are shown, with the rest masked.

If unauthenticated, you can enter your license key and authenticate using the "Authenticate" button.

A license key is required to use rakko.

We will send an email containing the URL to the license registration page to the email address you provide.

How to get started

Step 2. Receive URL

We will send an email containing the URL to the license registration page to the address you provided.

Step 3. Select Plan

Set your password and registered name, then select your preferred license plan.

Paid plans can be paid by credit card or bank transfer.

Step 4. Receive License

We will send the download link and license key to your email address.

Step 5. Install

Launch the installer and enter your license key to begin installation.

For paid plans, the license key will be activated after payment is confirmed.

You can upgrade to a higher plan at any time, but the difference in price must be paid.

Your email address will be used only for sending the download link and for license management.

Please keep your registration email safe. It contains the URL you need to log in to your license management page.

Changing Your Plan

You can only upgrade to a higher plan. Downgrading is not available. The price difference must be paid upon upgrading.

How to change your plan

Step 1. Find the URL

Access the URL included in the registration email you received when you first registered your license.

Step 2. Log In

Enter your password to log in.

Step 3. Check Current Plan

You can check your current plan and the number of installations used.

Step 4. Change Plan

Select a higher plan and pay the difference by credit card or bank transfer.

Step 5. Confirmation

After payment is confirmed, we will notify you by email that your plan has been updated.

Your license key will not change when you upgrade your plan.

rakko does not guarantee detection or prevention of all ransomware or malware.

For greater protection, we recommend using rakko alongside antivirus software and regular backups.
